All About Aloe
Aloe Vera has been used for countless centuries by many civilizations, and a score of historic figures you may recognize such as Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, King Solomon and others. Alexander the Great conquered an island (Socotra) lush with aloe plants for the use of his armies to treat intestinal worms and wounds inflicted in battle. Cleopatra used aloe vera to keep her skin smooth and supple. King Solomon is believed to have cultivated aloe plants. Texts referencing the use of aloe plants go back 3,500 years. Indeed, in 1852 an Egyptian papyrus mentioning the use of aloe vera was discovered. The papyrus was dated to 1550 B.C. / BCE. Native American healers used aloe vera for medicinal purposes, as have Japanese, Chinese, Romans and ancient Greek physicians. Often referred to as the "First Aid Plant," aloe vera continues to be studied in the United States, Great Britain and other countries by renowned researchers. Physicians have long considered aloe vera to be a natural emollient and antiseptic. The anti-inflammation properties of aloe vera are well-documented. No doubt you have already used aloe vera to treat minor skin burns, cuts, and rashes. Only in the last few decades, thanks to the research and enormous efforts of the leading Aloe Vera company (Forever Living Products, International) in the world, have the benefits of drinking aloe vera juice been rediscovered. 10. (In fact, the person who designed this website has been drinking aloe vera juice for over 27 years.) If the aloe vera juice is natural and fresh. Millions of people around the world drink 100% stabilized Aloe Vera juice each and every day, religiously. They are excited about the benefits found in the pure aloe vera gel. Between the rich and significant amounts of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in Aloe vera gel, everybody should drink aloe vera juice on a daily basis. (See left of this page for how much aloe vera gel to drink.) For detailed information on the amazing benefits of aloe vera gel (internal aloe vera gel drinks and aloe vera gel for the skin), read the "Top Ten Reasons to Drink Aloe Vera Gel drinks" page on this site. Get more out of life, drink aloe vera gel juice and use aloe vera gel for the skin! "WHOLE LEAF" Aloe Vera Drinks Myth Unlike the pure inner aloe vera gel found inside the aloe vera leaf, the rind of the aloe vera leaf has essentially no nutritional value. This means that the presence of the rind in aloe vera products such as aloe vera drinks is little more than useless 'filler'. Why pay for filler that is of essentially no benefit when you should get only the pure, inner aloe vera gel? The promotion of "whole leaf" aloe vera products with the rind included, as being more beneficial in some way, is simply incorrect and misleading. (See picture of inner aloe vera gel, with the rind removed, to the left.) It goes without saying (but we will, anyway!) that it takes more time, effort, resources, and money to remove the outer rind than to use a "throw-it-all-in-a-blender" method. The final product of just the pure inner aloe vera gel more than justifies the extra labor and costs needed for a superior, quality, aloe vera gel product. Now let's turn our attention to "Powdered" aloe vera. The various processes used (freezing, air drying, chemicals, etc.) can alter and even destroy the natural benefits of Aloe vera gel. You simply do not know what you are getting, nor can you be assured of quality control. (A significant amount of powdered and concentrated aloe vera comes from countries where even minimum quality standards are not enforced. And, you have no idea how long shipped aloe vera has been just sitting in the container.) If you feel you MUST purchase powdered and/or concentrated aloe vera, do a great deal of homework first. (Do not e-mail questions to us regarding powdered or concentrated aloe vera. We simply do not recommend powdered aloe vera nor concentrated aloe vera.) You want only aloe vera juice and other products made from the pure, inner, aloe vera gel that do not have the useless leaf rind "filler", and that are not watered down, as is so often the case with aloe vera drinks found in expensive health food stores and elsewhere. You want only 100% stabilized aloe vera juice and skin care products that are carefully packaged so that both light and oxygen are blocked from the aloe gel contents. Light and oxygen break down the beneficial properties of Aloe vera gel . . . avoid aloe vera juices that are bottled in clear or translucent (opaque) containers.
